YouTube Monetization Checker

Enter a channel’s subscribers, public watch hours and Shorts views to see how close it is to the YouTube Partner Program thresholds.

Quick answer

A channel can join the YouTube Partner Program with 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 public watch hours in the past 12 months or 10 million public Shorts views in the past 90 days. Enter your numbers below to see what is left.

Not yet. Closest path is watch hours: 360 more subscribers and 1,700 more watch hours.

Thresholds follow YouTube’s published Partner Program criteria. YouTube also reviews channels against its policies, and the Earn tab in YouTube Studio shows the real status.

What are the YouTube monetization requirements?

To earn ad revenue, a channel must join the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). The core thresholds are 1,000 subscribers plus one of two activity goals. Source: YouTube Help, Partner Program overview and eligibility.

Watch hours from Shorts feed views do not count toward the 4,000-hour goal. Shorts have their own path.

What else does YouTube check?

Reaching the numbers is the first step. YouTube also reviews the channel against its monetization policies and Community Guidelines, and you need a linked AdSense account to be paid. Turning on 2-Step Verification and living in a region where the program is available are also required.

Because of that review, a channel can meet the numbers and still wait or be declined. The Earn tab in YouTube Studio shows the official status.

How this checker works

The tool compares the three numbers you type against the thresholds above and shows how much is left on each path. It does not look up channels, so you need the figures from YouTube Studio Analytics. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

Treat the result as a progress check, not an approval.

Tips for reaching the thresholds

  • Publish on topics your viewers already search for, and keep a steady schedule.
  • Check audience retention in YouTube Studio and fix the moments where viewers leave.
  • Use playlists and end screens to send viewers to your next video, which adds watch time.
  • Plan Shorts and long-form separately, because they count on different paths.

Questions about this tool

Where do I find these numbers?

In YouTube Studio, open Analytics and set the date range to the last 12 months for watch hours and the last 90 days for Shorts views.

Is meeting the thresholds enough to be monetized?

No. YouTube also reviews the channel against its monetization policies before approving it. The Earn tab in YouTube Studio shows your real status.

Can I check someone else’s channel?

Only if you know its numbers. YouTube does not publish another channel’s watch hours.

Do Shorts views count toward watch hours?

No. Watch hours from the Shorts feed do not count toward the 4,000-hour goal. Shorts can qualify a channel on their own path with 10 million public views in 90 days.

Do the thresholds change?

They can. Confirm the current numbers on YouTube Help before you rely on them.
